Pretoro (CH)
The settlement of the village of Pretoro can be traced to the VI-V cent. BC. The name derives from the name "Praetorium" and was a control point of the passage from the valley in which it had Peligna settlements of people and had their seat the Frentani.
The medieval village as it is now built around 1600 after the destruction of Pretoro Castle, perched on the end of the rock known as "Castrum de Pretoria Theta."
The village is characterized by steep streets and alleys that offer beautiful landscape truly unique.
Pennapiedimonte
Pennapiedimonte is situated on a ridge of limestone massif of the Majella Orientale.
It's included in the Natural Reserve of Feudo Ugni, inside the Parco Nazionale della Maiella and offers glimpses of landscapes and truly unique in its kind.
Walk among its streets, which often lead to the mountain is easy to find homes dug directly into the rock.
In 1970 the village of Pennapiedimonte has been recognized as a national monument because it preserves the cave houses, sculpted bodies of white stone that surround the space between heaven and earth.
